Description

Uncertified paragliders

Why is a paraglider not necessarily certified?

An uncertified paraglider is actually a wing that has not passed any tests to determine its classification. So when the manufacturer communicates about his wing, he can't officially announce a category (EN A, EN B, EN C etc...).

However, these gliders are often load-rated. This means that the paraglider brand certifies the robustness of its wing. In fact, as with homologated wings, the manufacturer has put the wing through a series of piloting tests to ensure that it holds a certain weight and meets a number of requirements for paragliding.

What types of wing are not certified?

Uncertified wings are often mini paragliders, such as speed riding or speed flying wings. It would be pointless to homologate these wings to certify a certain behavior, as their small size and the flying practices for which they are intended are often not classic uses. These gliders are often aimed at experienced pilots who already know their stuff.

If you happen to be interested in one of the gliders in this category, don't hesitate to ask a professional!
