ST14 paragliding earpiece: reliable and robust communication
The ST14 earpiece is a high-performance communication tool for paragliding, designed to provide clear and reliable communication in flight. Equipped with a windproof foam cover and a remote PTT, it allows easy communication whether in transition or in thermals. Its flexible microphone boom enables precise adjustment of the microphone position relative to the mouth, ensuring optimal voice transmission. Its metal headband ensures secure and stable support on the ears.
Designed to last, the ST14 stands out with its reinforced cable with strengthened ends, offering improved durability over time. Simple and effective to use, it is suitable for all types of flights. However, note that its connection cable is relatively short, requiring the radio to be kept close to the pilot, and that its PTT, larger and slightly recessed, requires precise positioning for optimal use.
Our expert review - Thibaut Pignol:
Thibaut tested this headset for you, here is his feedback:
As I’ve often said, this type of earpiece headset is for me the best communication tool you can connect to a radio. They are simple and effective. The windscreen ensures you are clearly heard, the remote PTT allows you to communicate in all situations, whether in transition or in the core of a thermal, and the metal headband ensures an optimal fit on the ears.
If I had to compare this product, it would naturally be with the PM670 from CRT. Both are very similar, but here are the differences:
ST14 strengths
- The ST14 features a reinforced cable, making it more durable.
- It has additional reinforcements at the cable ends, more effective than the PM670.
ST14 points to consider
- The cable connecting to the radio is a bit short, so the radio should be positioned close to the pilot’s body.
- The PTT is larger than the PM670 and the button is recessed, making it slightly less accessible. Proper positioning on the finger is required for consistent use.
In short, choosing the PM670 from CRT means prioritizing ergonomics and ease of use, while the ST14 focuses on reliability and robustness.
Comparison with the ST14
| FEATURE | CRT PM670 | ST14 |
|---|---|---|
| Strengths | Ergonomics and ease of use | Maximum reliability and robustness |
