You’re already autonomous but keep circling above takeoff? Want to go further, without waiting for others to show the way?

The Cross Country Level 1 Course is made for you! Perfect for covering your first real kilometers in paragliding, it teaches you how to read aerological conditions over time, build simple flight plans, link thermals, and gradually step out of your comfort zone.

Our top priority remains your safety. This paragliding course is designed for pilots eager to make their first cross-country flights. In short, it’s an introduction to cross country. Throughout the course, we may move to different sites to find the best flying conditions possible, and together we’ll explore all the key flight phases (soaring, transition, and more).

Guided by our passionate instructors, you’ll learn to fly longer, position yourself better, and choose your routes strategically. All of this in an exceptional setting: Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet, a true gem of free flight, ideal for safely discovering cross-country flying.

WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE?

The goal of this course is clear: to guide you through your first real cross-country flights and with a smile on your face.

Throughout the week, you’ll develop essential skills to fly farther, longer, and with greater control:

➡️ Build a coherent flight plan based on your level, conditions, and goals

➡️ Make the most of the daily flying window to maximize your airtime

➡️ Learn to land safely out in the field, following the rules and using a clear method

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM OF THE COURSE?

The Cross Country Level 1 Course consists of:

A half-day dedicated to assessing your flying and theoretical skills.
Introduction to group flying, communication, safety, and retrievals
Weather and aerology forecasting workshop, airspace study, and other complementary lessons
Lesson on flight technique
Fly for as long as possible!

Note: Paragliding is an aerial sport subject to weather conditions. The program may change depending on meteorological and aerological conditions.

FOR WHOM?

Autonomous pilot with complete personal equipment, holding at least the Initial Pilot Certificate and able to use thermal lift.

WHAT PRICE?

The course price is €779 for 5 days or €339 for 2 days over 1 weekends. The fee does not include aerial liability insurance (€55).

WHEN?

Find all the dates on our schedule. Additional courses may be added if the minimum number of participants is reached. Don’t hesitate to contact us.

WHAT EQUIPMENT?

Certified and inspected wing + harness + radio + repacked parachute (less than one year) + GPS vario/altimeter and suitable clothing (gloves, hydration). Contact us if you’re missing any item.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The courses are subject to weather conditions. That’s why any half-day not validated will not be charged.
We often go out for the whole day: remember to bring your lunch and some water.
Arrive well-rested to make the most of your flying days.
The meeting point is at our base, located at the Lumbin landing zone (283 chemin des Longs Prés).
Depending on weather conditions, we may suggest a meeting point on another nearby site.

OUR PHILOSOPHY AIR ET AVENTURE

The pleasure of flying a paraglider is a magical thing! That's why it's important not to forget the basics, and to remain humble and vigilant at all times. Over and above the distance and performance aspects of the course, we'll also be inviting you to become aware of your own abilities and to question your own practice, so as to enable you to evolve without increasing your level of commitment.

During a Cross course, the instructors are there to support you, but the pilots are responsible for their own safety! We equip you with a tracker to facilitate recovery and improve safety.

A PARAGLIDING COURSE IN THE ALPS AT SAINT-HILAIRE DU TOUVET IN ISÈRE

This is the main site we use, located just a few steps from the city of Grenoble, on the edge of the Chartreuse, facing Belledonne and close to the Vercors.

This site is perfectly suited for this type of course. With large take-off areas in the village of Saint-Hilaire du Touvet and a vast landing field in Lumbin, the setting is ideal for both beginners and the most experienced paragliders.
