The Superfly Mk2 from LittleCloud is an ultralight and versatile paragliding wing developed to accompany pilots on their most demanding adventures. The SuperFly Mk2 was developed around ambitious goals: delivering high performance, reassuring behaviour, low weight, a compact pack size and, above all, plenty of fun in flight. For this second generation, LittleCloud completely reworked the planform and arc. The wing features an aspect ratio of 5.5, 45 cells, mini-ribs at the trailing edge and retains a 3-line architecture.
Its new aerodynamic profile was specifically developed for the SuperFly Mk2 to combine stability throughout the entire speed range, performance and clear communication with the air mass. The construction has also been lightened compared with the first SuperFly, without reducing reinforcement or durability simply to save weight.
The SuperFly Mk2 is made entirely from 27 g/m² 10D fabric to reduce both its weight and packed volume. It weighs just 2.4 kg in size 17, 2.7 kg in 19.5, 2.9 kg in 22.5 and 3.2 kg in 25.
The risers use 12 mm Kevlar webbing and integrate a speed system as well as Baby A risers to make big ears easier to perform. LittleCloud deliberately chose this solution over Dyneema risers: according to the brand, the small weight saving did not compensate for the loss of ease of use. The stiffness of the Kevlar webbing notably makes preparing the wing before take-off easier. The line set is entirely made from unsheathed Dyneema.
The SuperFly Mk2 was designed to accept a relatively high wing loading while retaining docile behaviour. It makes efficient use of thermals thanks to its ability to fly at low speed and its high level of manoeuvrability.
During transitions, its high flying speed and performance allow the pilot to keep moving efficiently. The handling is intended to be lively, precise and particularly agile, with behaviour aimed at pilots who enjoy a dynamic and communicative wing.
The work carried out on inflation also allows the wing to rise more clearly and quickly in no-wind conditions, with early load-bearing. In stronger winds, preparation and inflation remain easy to manage.
The character of the SuperFly Mk2 changes noticeably depending on where it is flown within its weight range. In the lower half, it adopts calmer behaviour, offers good float and a speed comparable to that of a paraglider. This configuration is aimed at intermediate pilots looking for greater ease of use.
In the upper half of the weight range, its character becomes more dynamic: speed increases and turning becomes sharper. This configuration is therefore better suited to more experienced pilots looking for a particularly playful and precise wing. The addition of size 25 also broadens the choice of wing loadings and the range of pilots for whom the SuperFly Mk2 may be suitable.
It is difficult to place the SuperFly Mk2 into a single category. Its ability to make use of thermals, its penetration into headwind and its playful handling allow it to cover a wide range of flying styles. It can be paired with a string harness for soaring or Hike & Fly, as well as with a lightweight cocoon harness for cross-country flying.
This versatility, combined with its low weight and compact volume, makes it particularly well suited to travel and adventure. The SuperFly Mk2 is also supplied with a lightweight quick-pack bag. LittleCloud states that size 22.5 can fit into its 45-litre Hike & Fly bag together with an ultralight cocoon harness, jacket, helmet and reserve parachute.
Compared with the brand’s other wings, LittleCloud positions the SuperFly Mk2 as slightly more performant than the Gracchio Mk3, with greater speed and better glide. Compared with the Puffin, it offers more performance along with more agile and precise handling.
Compared with the first SuperFly, this new generation is described as slightly more performant and lighter. It nevertheless retains its unique concept: according to LittleCloud, the SuperFly Mk2 is truly neither a mini-wing nor a conventional paraglider, but a versatile wing in its own right, designed to open up a wide range of flying possibilities.
