Dominate cross-country flying with the NOVA MENTOR 7 Light
The MENTOR 7 Light introduces a brand-new 2.5-line hybrid design, the result of NOVA’s experience developing the XENON. This innovative concept allows for pushing the limits in terms of performance and XC efficiency, while maintaining passive safety worthy of the high EN-B category. Its lightweight and clever construction also meets the durability and reliability demands of ambitious hike & fly pilots.
The best balance between comfort and performance
Philipp Medicus, Head of R&D at NOVA, sums up the project: “With two and a half lines, we’ve increased performance while maintaining a remarkable level of flying comfort, far superior to many 3-line wings.” Compared to the MENTOR 6, the MENTOR 7 is a radical evolution—a true revolution in the range, akin to the leap between early generations. Everything changes, except the desire to fly far.
Like its big sister the XENON, the MENTOR 7 Light now includes rigid elements in its structure, making simple "stuffing" into the bag unsuitable. Packing remains easy, especially with the included Pack Roll, ensuring excellent longevity of the rods. Pilots can also choose the optional Concertina Bag Light or a NOVA carrying bag.
Smart and lightweight construction
With 66 cells, the MENTOR 7 Light has a complex and optimized internal structure to distribute loads efficiently while remaining ultra-light. This design ensures smooth glide, increased durability, and excellent shape retention—perfect for all Hike & Fly adventures with no compromise on performance.
Performance and stability in real conditions
True to the MENTOR tradition, this Light version excels in easily unlocking the wing’s full potential. High-speed stability, C-handle control, and a safe reaction beyond the flying envelope thanks to a moderate aspect ratio of 5.5—all the ingredients are there to fly farther, faster, and with total confidence. Its maximum speed has also improved compared to the previous version.
Pitch precision with HAC Handles
Equipped as standard with HAC Handles (Height Adjustable C-handles), the MENTOR 7 Light provides precise pitch control during accelerated flight—previously only found in 2-liners. These handles allow fine incidence control and are a great tool for pilots progressing toward performance flying.
High-performance multifunction risers
The Speedbrake Riser 2.0 is another major innovation of the MENTOR 7 Light. Alongside the HAC Handles, it integrates “Baby-B Lines” acting on the B3 line for more precise piloting. The risers remain clear and easy to untangle at launch. The absence of a C3 line further improves precision both on the ground and in the air.
Who is this paraglider for?
The MENTOR 7 Light is a high-end EN/LTF-B designed for regular XC pilots looking for performance and efficient accelerated flight. It’s ideal for those wishing to learn advanced piloting techniques of 2-liners without giving up comfort or passive safety. Note: some flight phases require adaptation, such as using the B3 line instead of big ears for effective descent.
Advanced integrated technologies:
- Unique 2/3-line hybrid design
The wing center uses a 3-line layout, while the tips function as a 2-liner. The absence of a C3 reduces drag, improves accelerated flight, and enables more precise pitch control.
- Smooth leading edge
Thanks to Double 3D Shaping, specific seams reduce wrinkles on the leading edge, enhancing aerodynamics and performance.
- NOVA Air Scoop
Inspired by dynamic air intakes on sports cars, the Air Scoop system optimizes internal pressure for more stability and better resistance to collapses.
- Moderate aspect ratio for added safety
An aspect ratio of 5.5 maintains a good balance between performance and easy handling, reducing cravat risk and simplifying incident recovery.
- Lightweight yet durable
Despite its low weight, the MENTOR 7 Light uses robust materials, offering a lifespan comparable to classic wings. Perfect for Hike & Fly pilots seeking uncompromised performance.
