An EN C tandem paraglider wing dedicated to performance and distance flying
The Apollo Bi from Skyparagliders is an EN C tandem paraglider wing from the Sport Line range, designed for experienced tandem pilots seeking precise handling, light brake pressure and high performance. Designed to move beyond the traditional commercial tandem framework, it opens the door to long-distance flights and ambitious tandem projects.
With the Apollo Bi, it is no longer just about completing commercial rotations, but about experiencing true long, dynamic and committed flights.
A true cross-country tandem
The Apollo Bi was developed from the solo Apollo wing and incorporates several advanced technical innovations. Its mission is clear: to offer a tandem capable of high performance in thermals and transitions, with a wide speed range and excellent glide ratio.
This design makes ambitious flights possible, including record attempts in tandem, as demonstrated by the FAI 25 km triangle speed world record achieved by Maxime Bellemin and Laurie Genovese flying the Apollo Bi.
A design based on the latest innovations
The Apollo Bi benefits from modern technologies derived from solo development:
- LEO (Leading Edge Optimization)
- 3-line configuration
- V Bridge system
- Triple 3D laser cutting
This architecture delivers high-speed glide performance, efficient air-mass feedback transmission and direct, precise handling.
Demanding handling for experienced pilots
Unlike tandems dedicated to intensive commercial use, the Apollo Bi prioritizes performance and handling finesse.
According to Alexandre Paux, the wing’s designer, the design brief was entirely different from that of a school or commercial tandem. The goal was not to maximize roll stability or simplify takeoff phases as much as possible, but to offer:
- Greater maneuverability
- Lighter brake pressure
- An extended speed range
- Improved glide performance
- More precise air-mass feedback
Inflation is more technical, notably due to the shark nose and thin line setup. The handling is more precise and more demanding than that of a tandem such as the Metis. This is the deliberate compromise made to access new sensations in tandem flying.
