How to unlock a paragliding radio?

In paragliding, and more broadly in the free flight world, we generally use VHF radios. This is due both to the range of these frequencies and their compact design, allowing them to be easily stored in a pocket, attached to your harness shoulder straps, or fixed to your cockpit.

All paragliding radios sold by Air et Aventure are either unlocked or supplied with instructions to open the 136 to 174 MHz channels.

Certified aviation radios

You will find here certified radios allowing you to communicate safely and confidently with aerodrome or airport control towers.

These radios can be panel-mounted or portable (such as the Icom ICA 25 CE).

Non-certified aviation radios

You will also find non-certified aviation radios, intended for ground use. Some of these radios can also be used as an emergency backup radio in flight.

Some models, such as the CRT 4CF, allow reception only and do not transmit on the aviation band.
