The NeroHero helmet is the result of a meticulous design process led by Ignazio Bernardi, with the support of Italy’s top helmet designer. Each NeroHero begins as a wooden and plaster sculpture, shaped with the elegance and precision of Italian craftsmanship. Once the prototype is validated, it is 3D-scanned, digitally modeled, colorized, and refined through simulation before being transformed into a high-precision product using CNC machining.
Icaro has equipped the NeroHero helmet with an internal Coolmax fabric liner, a technical material known for quickly wicking away sweat and promoting rapid evaporation. This soft-touch textile provides superior thermal comfort, allowing pilots to stay cool and dry even during long flights. Each NeroHero helmet comes with a tag confirming the use of this high-end material.
The helmet’s size is determined by the internal circumference of the comfort liner, which directly matches the head circumference in centimeters. To ensure a perfect fit, Icaro offers 5 interchangeable liner sizes:
The removable liner system allows for a quick and precise fit. If the helmet does not fit properly, Icaro offers to send a new padding set free of charge, regardless of where the helmet was purchased.
Another major advantage: the inner lining system is fully removable, making it easy to clean or replace, helping to extend the helmet’s lifespan while maintaining a high level of comfort.
The NeroHero helmet features a carbon fiber outer shell, a material that is both extremely strong and ultra-light. Unlike polycarbonate or fiberglass, carbon provides superior impact absorption, especially in high-speed collisions. It’s no surprise it’s also used in advanced fields like the military sector.
The expanded polystyrene (EPS) inner shell of the NeroHero is designed to excel in the impact absorption tests required by the EN 966 standard. Its considerable thickness allows for efficient energy dissipation during frontal, lateral, or pointed-object impacts.
The testing process includes flat surface impacts, sharp-edge collisions, and penetration tests to guarantee maximum pilot protection in all free flight scenarios.
The NeroHero helmet is EN 966 certified, the benchmark standard for aerial sports helmets. This certification confirms that the helmet has passed all rigorous safety, shock absorption, and mechanical strength tests.
