An EN-D wing developed for cross-country and Hike & Fly
The XENON 3 has been designed for pilots seeking maximum performance without compromising on reliability and durability. Developed for long cross-country flights and demanding Hike & Fly competitions, it combines low weight, a compact packed size and outstanding glide performance. Its remarkable stability at full speed provides calm and precise handling, allowing pilots to fully exploit its potential during long transitions. The XENON 3 is aimed at ambitious pilots who want to cover long distances with a lightweight, high-performance wing built to meet the demands of the most committed flights.
An evolution inspired by the Red Bull X-Alps
The XENON 3 is directly derived from the development of the XENON 2, a wing originally designed for the Red Bull X-Alps. Flown by Aaron Durogati, it won the 2025 edition of the race, demonstrating the full efficiency of its aerodynamic concept. However, NOVA deliberately chose not to release this version, believing there was still room for improvement, particularly in terms of handling.
The overall wing structure has therefore been retained, while several optimisations have been introduced: improved leading-edge finishing, more precise guidance of the Nitinol rods and refined 3D shaping. These developments further enhance performance, especially at full speed, while also improving inflation behaviour.
More precise and direct handling
The main evolution of the XENON 3 lies in its new brake system. Each size features brake geometry specifically adapted to provide more direct handling, clearly defined brake pressure, immediate feedback and maximum control.
The controls deliver a compact and confidence-inspiring feel, particularly at high speed. Pilots benefit from a high level of precision without excessive feedback—exactly what is required for high-performance flying and long transitions.
Built to last
Durability was a key design objective. Rather than pursuing the lowest possible weight, NOVA chose to develop a wing capable of maintaining its performance and handling characteristics over many years of use.
The leading edge is made from Dominico 20D, a fabric renowned for its durability and ability to retain its shape over time. Combined with a reinforced internal structure, this construction enables the XENON 3 to preserve its flight characteristics, handling precision and structural integrity, even after intensive use in demanding mountain environments.
Optimise your wing loading to suit your flying style
The XENON 3 can be flown across its entire certified weight range. Loaded towards the upper end of its weight range, it delivers very direct handling and fully reveals its potential, particularly when flying accelerated. However, NOVA recommends flying at around 2 to 3 kg below the maximum all-up weight to achieve the best balance between performance and handling comfort.
By contrast, during the Red Bull X-Alps, pilots generally flew around the middle of the certified weight range to maximise performance in very weak lift while taking full advantage of the wing's excellent glide performance during long transitions.
The XENON 3 is therefore aimed at cross-country pilots looking for a lightweight and compact EN-D paragliding wing without compromising performance, as well as Hike & Fly competitors who need a wing capable of delivering its full potential when every detail matters.
